The general public that is starting be at least "somewhat concerned" is still lagging decades behind the science, and the science is continuously underestimating the pace of change.

Take the worst case scenarios and cut the timeline to them in half. With luck, that will be in the ballpark of where we're headed. Maybe sooner.
