Eco-Warriors Deflating SUV Tires [View all]

This practice has now spread to NYC and other U.S. cities. It started in the UK:

New eco-vigilantes who let down SUV tyres have been targeting ELECTRIC 4x4s and leaving notes lecturing their owners about climate change
EXCLUSIVE: Electric car owners tell MailOnline they were targeted by eco mob
A group calling themselves The Tyre Extinguishers launched anti-SUV campaign
Eco mob claim they targeted hundreds of SUVs and let the air out of their tyres

They brand SUVs as a 'climate disaster' and say they create 'racist air pollution'
Three police forces confirmed they are investigating criminal damage offences

Now it's in NY (and other major U.S. cities) but the only outlet covering the story is Rupert Murdoch's Post, which I will not link to for ethical reasons.

Their aim is to wipe out the SUV. Here are some snips from the Post story (yes, I had to take a shower after clicking there).

The Tyre Extinguishers — which started in the UK, hence the spelling — claimed late Wednesday to have so far hit more than 5,000 SUVs in at least eight countries with “more planned.”

The group said that in addition to the nearly 40 vehicles targeted late last month on the Upper East Side, at least 20 SUVs were hit in Chicago, another 20 in Scranton, Pa., and 12 in the San Francisco area. It has openly called for help in Los Angeles, too.

Their message:

I don't support keying these vehicles--that's just vandalism. But I must say, an experience like this is enough to make someone think twice about their next vehicle.
