Germany sought to replace its coal and nuclear power plants with a hybrid gas-wind-solar system. They failed.

They certainly didn't take into account a possible Russian invasion when they shut down a bunch of nuclear plants without first having enough renewables online to replace Russian gas and oil.

They haven't failed because it's a work in progress.

Germany approved plans for the government's special “climate and transformation fund” to invest 177.5 billion euros ($180 billion) over the next four years to help accelerate the shift to an economy that's cleaner and less dependent on Russia for energy supplies.
