That myth of the west believers do. It's brutal and they get off on the killing part because they have been taught to to hate these beautiful and essential (keystone species) animals. The government used the hatred to eradicate them from the landscape around a century ago so that the cattle industry could make a profit. The removal of all the predators and indigenous peoples from the landscape made it all possible.
We still subsidize the shit out of the cattle industry by allowing them to foul our public lands with their filthy cows an sheep. They over graze and bring pests and disease to the wildlife along with destruction of their habitat. I could go on a long rant on this but I'll stop here and take a deep breath. I used to do public outreach and education on this topic, it's an issue of concern that should be more widely known.
