Gavin Newsom's blanket statement is (something to the effect) that California isn't ready to retire the facility, but the actual reason is because of A.I. and data centers. If California can't provide the energy these companies will look elsewhere.

It's an insane paradox: the tech that's suppose to save us will hasten our demise. And all because a few very wealthy assholes want to become wealthier.
