refrain from eating meat, fish (except for shell fish), dairy - including eggs, and alcohol most Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as during Great Lent and multiple other fasting periods.

Since I am not a "cradle orthodox," I have learned to eat and enjoy many foods that otherwise I would not have tried. I have discovered that temporarily refraining from certain food pleasures helps to reverse the effect of diminishing returns. It also helps keep my weight down.
