was defused by the Green Revolution, which in turn encouraged the unfortunate, but widely held belief that there is a tech solution to every problem. Borlaug's interventions let us push far beyond the limits of sustainability, but there's no free lunch. There was a chance, in the 70's for us to re-invent ourselves. We didn't, and now we're going to have to pay up.
