1. I had never heard the manuf. being higher. It's the battery manuf. that's higher.

Otherwise, for years and years I've been saying that grinding valves, and turning pistons, and hardening gear teeth is far more energy intensive than anything related to electric cars. In fact, I find it very hard to believe that even the battery manufacturing is so high. But I just read the link in your link, and evidently it is.

By the way, 25% of the lifetime use of energy is what it takes to build a typical car.

Thanks for posting, even if I despise the term "green". Walking is green. Anything car related is not "green". I remember encountering the term "green" for the first time in my engineering magazine back in 1992. I immediately unsubscribed.
