Work starts on biggest solar park in the Caribbean

International solar provider WIRSOL started construction on the Caribbean’s largest solar park.

The 64MW construction in the Dominican Republic's Monte Plata province will be built in two stages.

The first phase of construction aims to have 32.14MW completed and grid connected by next year.

Due to the recent population increase, there are now more than 10 million inhabitants in the Dominican Republic. The population boom has also caused significant economic growth, but also rapidly increased electricity demands. The government now provides favourable tax treatments for PV projects in an attempt to encourage investment.
