GG's part in that effort is to craft an emotional appeal that will 1) discredit the judgement of the environmental community; 2) with that undermine the rational position that renewables can solve the problem, and 3) create a sense of despair that makes people open to extreme answers, in this case nuclear.

He doesn't argue for nuclear directly any longer, he just prepares the soil, so to speak, for the planting by others. He has largely been following the same formula for half a dozen years.
