3. There's the first problem

Somehow we think we can set aside a part of the planet. That's because we've privatized the planet for a single species. Or want to anyway.

If you really want to do something for the commons, for the environment, you get rid of the largest privatization mechanism that exists, civilization, which is little more than a resource(or wealth) concentration process. That would be like the 1% giving up their power though, so, not really an option.
