The oil companies are largely at fault. Technology has come along over and over that would have seriously reduced our use of oil. The oil companies bought the patents and the companies that produced the fuel saving products to make sure they never hit the market. Our current hybrids are an absolute joke compared to what they could be if it were not for the oil companies.

So no, I absolutely will not place all of the blame on us, the end user.

Our Military is also the largest consumer of fuels.

So no, I absolutely will not place all of the blame on us, the end user.

Our public transportation system in the US is is appallingly inferior forcing us to continue driving our cars. One of the reasons public transportation is all but non existent here in the US is because the politicians that would make it happen are bought and paid for by corporations that profit from our oil use.

So no, I absolutely will not place all of the blame on us, the end user.

But, that is all besides the point because I never said it wasn't our fault so much oil is used. I simply pointed out some of the dangers of the pipeline itself. Believe it or not, it is far safer to continue shipping it by train that it is to try and stuff that shit through a pipeline. The purpose of the pipeline is solely to increase profits for the oil giants, not to help America. We will pay the price if it is built.
