as other scientists realize how close we are and don't want to sink too much of their own money in it? Better to risk investors' money in any case. Just speculating, of course. But if this amazing news is real, the race to develop the first fission bomb should be nothing to the competition to save the world.

I like to think, anyway. After all these years I still feel a little knot of sorrow that "kitchen fusion" wasn't real.
