1. Let's not call tree plantations "forests"

What the Chinese largely did was create tree farms, planted in nice orderly rows with almost no species diversity. They're corn fields on steroids.

While massive kudos are in order for sucking so much carbon out of the air, they are not forests. That will take decades, if not centuries, to establish, assuming the Chinese don't decide to harvest these forests in the near future.
