I suspect that a Dustbowl-type dust storm might tank Tedito's political career, at least if it occurs near a time when he's facing re-election.

Despite the ameliorative practices made by FDR and afterwards, the possibility of more Dustbowl-type dust storms hasn't gone away, and rising temperatures exacerbate droughts and their effects.
