1. Syria crisis: UN report confirms sarin gas 'war crime'

A UN report says sarin gas was used in a rocket attack in the Syrian capital, Damascus, last month, although it has not attributed blame.

A sarin gas attack with no attributble party is just news, unless it is possible to identify the type of fweapon, the circumstances of the attack, its consequences, and of course the author of the attack.

In the chaotic circumstances in Syria it certaily is almost impossible to identify the author of an attack, simply because the chaos of combat does not allow immediate inspections by qualified witnesses, until fighters have abandoned the combat area. Fortunately there are usually sources available which can help reconstruct the battle, which were there or in a surrounding area.

It appears that in this particular case, sarin gas was indeed used.
