1. I find this to be quite hypocritical of the US

Yeah, China sucks as a totalitarian government that treats it's people like annoying and expendable pets. But the US has done as much discrimination and abuse of people.

We allowed black athletes to carry the torch while our police got carte blanche to murder black people in the streets.

It's the pot calling the kettle black.
