China: Quad destroys international solidarity [View all]
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian has criticized the Quad framework consisting of Japan, the United States, Australia and India.
Zhao made the comments at a news conference on Friday, the same day top diplomats from the four countries held talks in Melbourne aimed at ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
Zhao said the Quad unnaturally stokes confrontation and destroys international solidarity and cooperation.
He urged the countries involved to get rid of what he called an outdated Cold War mentality and play a constructive role in peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
