'Ask few questions' Cyprus closes its banks for Russian oligarchs. The scale of economic outflow from Russia to Cyprus was huge in 2014–2022. EU legislation to counter money laundering and comply with sanctions made it difficult for Russians themselves to hold money in the Cypriot banks.
