When this war started over 3 years ago, a lot of Russians had been drafted and sent to Ukraine with minimal training. Many of them became quick casualties, but a surprising number also defected to Ukraine. They figured they were better off sitting out the war in a Ukraine prison than fighting for Putin.
Back in Moscow these defectors were reported as "casualties," because Pootie didn't want anyone else getting the same idea. Now here we are three years later, the young Russian men really REALLY don't want to fight in Ukraine.
