7. I always hope beyond hope at least the new generations will not have to deal

with homelessness because of hate filled parents, but that hope is dashed further every time I read the actual news.

Bigotry thrives in this kind of cooped up environment. Bigotry always thrives, but more now than ever, it seems. Each step forward that we get to take, I can feel the backlash and several steps back coming, because of bigots.

Where I live, I still feel like rights never got here and I was not able to change anyone's mind who hated me along the way. Hell, my stepbrother carries a 45 pistol and claims to be "ok with gay people." The 45 is so that if anyone makes a pass at him, he can shoot them. Believe it or not, he's not even the worst kind of bigot where I live. He is one of the milder ones. The rest love brute force bashing and rape as their method of expressing their hatred.

It's too late for me to recover from the sustained bigotry and hate where I live, as poverty keeps me here and the bigotry and hate is still 99% of my ongoing experience in life. I feel like a hate sponge, put here to absorb the wrath of all of their bigotry, hate, willful ignorance, and bullying....alone. Always alone, me against the world.

....but I at least want to see the day that the next generations do not have to face so much hate. I wish we could find a way to protect each other more.
