5. women in that age range have been doing well on TV for the last few years

The Closer and now Major Crimes both were headed by strong females in that age range. The Americans has Keri Russell who is at least in her late 30's. Grace and Frankie has all four leads in their 70's which has got to be a first. TV is in many ways better than film has been in this regard.
