As with anything, YMMV, and results are different for different people. It may also be more or less effective, depending upon the actual underlying condition.

Good article here that seems to provide an overview of the TENS products from both a skeptic and a believer POV. It's generally written from a skeptic POV, but allows that there is some preliminary evidence that TENS treatment may provide relief to some patients.
