If she had the type that I had I can see how she declined so rapidly. I had it for 3 weeks but it wasn't properly diagnosed and I was told to keep going to work/school (1st grade). Even my 6 year old students were worried about my appearance and change in behavior.
Eventually I was grey, and extremely weak. I collapsed in the parking structure of the hospital since 1/3 of my blood was destroyed internally. They didn't have any blood available and they had to "make it". Type B packed red blood cells in 3 transfusions saved my life. Kaiser sucks!!!!! They kept telling me to go to work, I only had a cold!!!
If this is the type of pneumonia Diane had I can see why she had to be airlifted to a hospital. It gets super serious very quickly.
I wish more people were aware of this and would be asking their doctors for real answers to their symptoms ASAP!
