I wonder what the stats were in the 1800s for poor, unmarried, men. That when a second young wife, after losing his first wife to the lack of reproductive health care, went to a high status widow, there were slim pickings to everybody else. Oh and lots of young men died in wars back then, so there will be even more single men this time around. That doesn't even take into account the women who will just skip being in a relationship to avoid facing no choice in their maternal health.
