Do not give up on him! Keep trying different ways to connect with him. Tough love does not work, it’s a false solution. I understand your journey with him. The fear of losing him becomes overwhelming at times. The many many years of prayers for their healing make us feel like we are failing.

I could write a tome about my son.He was intelligent, creative, talented and loved people. He was also addicted to alcohol and drugs. He lost his life here on earth from a drug overdose. I feel terribly responsible, the guilt hits hard randomly. He tells me that this was his path. Even so I am always left with the thought that I could have done better, been more there for him, been more understanding, compassionate, forgiving, present. I do know that all my prayers and attempts to help him were not useless, he has passed his earthly test and is redeemed. Start to shift the way you see your son from a vision of damage to a vision of healed self.
