too many rams in a herd could be. Same with goats, most herds are females, only, the billy is kept by one guy who rents him to service all the farms in the area because they're a PIA to keep.

Here in the city, it's chickens. Somebody in the area has a rooster and my neighbor's hens used to try to crow back at him.
