I have shopped at the small local store for forty years. I trust them. This is going to be miserable to straighten out, even with honest people and the best of intentions.

I just don't need fancy appliances. If I need an air fryer or another type of device, I can buy something that is not a part of the range. It can be free standing, or sit on the counter like my slow cooker or my electric skillet.
