My mini indoor food garden attempt phailed; mini carrots, lettuce, back in the '80s. Too impatient, I think.
I've been good with houseplants. Especially had a Angelwing begonia that flowered for about 25 yrs! Oh, did I give away cuttings! 😄

Anyway since I love flowers...
That first dahlia (purple& white) was amazing!

If I was forced to pick one - Asian Lotuses!
When I was a tween I saw B&W photos of a botanist attempting to grow 2,000 yr old seeds from a bog!
Well - success!
The last photo was in color- gorgeous shell pink lotus. I was smitten!!
Anyways like 20 +ys later in winter) my dad had a calender of flowers and there was a photo of those nearly same pink lotuses at the NY (Bronx) Bontanic by the recognizable conservatory building.
I waited such anticipation and got to see them in that July. They were tall! Like 4 ft high. Leaves up to 3 ft- 3 1/2 ft.
Been going there almost every year since! They have a variety.
My favorites remain that pink type around 10+ petals. And the other has short white petals with a touch of dark red purple at the very tip. The unopened bud is like a "plump" raindrop.

And one time I tried growing them from the dried "shower head" seed head. Took 3 out put them in a shallow pan w sand and water. One actually started growing! I had tiny round Lotus leaves about 3/4" inch! But then it got moldy. 😔

If it was a tie - then Peonies would be the other!

Wisteria would be my 2nd or 3rd. Luckily you can find some here & there on buildings in Manhattan (probably elsewhere, but that's where I've seen them). Of course in the botanical gardens.
