Started planting in the garden this weekend (5/23) [View all]

It's been several years since my wife and I have planted a vegetable garden - the spot involved had been used for an above-ground pool that our grand-daughter used (she's 13 now and finds it to be too small - and she lives two blocks away from the community pool that has season passes for purchase and she always gets one). Anyway...

I got the tomatoes in the ground yesterday. Several Roma and cherry tomatoes and one Cherokee Purple. I was extremely happy to find that one. I planted one years ago and it bore the most fabulous tasting fruit. In the next couple of days we need to get the summer squash, beans, and other veggies in the ground and plant some marigolds around the perimeter to deter the bunnies. The weather forecast is for temps in the 80°F all next week so most of my planting will be in the mornings.

I'll need to get some tomato cages - I gave the ones I had to my step-daughter and makes good use of them.
