We have personal experience too.

The day after I got home the tree was laying on its side. She didn't really bother it too much then.

Then when we piled presents up under the tree we later found them all partially unwrapped. We had to hide the presents in the closet until it was time to unwrap them.

Then a few years ago I had my sister's cat Morgan while she was doing pharmacy rotations and my sister would bring her up for Christmas. She never really bothered the tree all that much nor was she a gift opener. Morgan liked the tree, but more as something to hide underneath than something to attack.
