It is sad as can be no doubt.
I've gone back and looked at pictures of my late Old Kitty and wow was she ever sick. Shame on me for keeping her like that. It was selfish in hindsight.
You did the right thing.
I lost my dog to the same sort of cancer, a big tumor under the front leg.
He was in a lot of pain and miserable and I had to have him put down after I'd had one surgery done to remove it (it came back needless to say).
Again, so sorry for you and may Jessie RIP.
