Over the years I’ve had 4 Maine Coons (3 purebred and 1 MC-type rescue) and 3 of them got mats no matter what I did, and had to get the summer lion cut. Plus the occasional unpleasant stuck-poop issue. Amazingly the 3 that got mats (Lucy, Dylan and Riley) were all very good for the groomer as well.
