Once the undercoat is gone, it's gone. Some of the dogs we've had over the years had been shaved before we got them so we just got used to always keeping them inside.

Our aussie is pretty remarkable as a people and kid's dog. She loves everyone and other dogs and animals. The border collie will try to nip the heels of strangers when they aren't looking to keep them away from us. She also does this with the aussie from time to time. The aussie has about 10lbs on her and is definitely capable of establishing dominance but has no interest in it. Occasionally she will pounce on the border collie and pin her to the ground when she has enough, but she won't bite or hurt her even though the border collie acts like she is being murdered. It's kind of funny to watch.
