Dog owners - picking up the "unpick-upable" on walks? [View all]

Ok sorry for the gross out factor but just a question:

I try to be a responsible pet owner and when I walk my dogs of course I always clean up after them. Every now and then my dog has ummmm loose stool and its almost impossible to pick-up - I make an attempt, but usually end up just smear stuff in the grass.

I feel terrible about the waste on someone's yard, but not sure what else to do?

Also in winter, sometimes the poo just melts through the snow to the bottom of the snowbank and no way can I pick it up.

How do you handle these situations?
