3. yes it does make water noises.

It is located near where they eat, and as I fed them tonight, the closest one kept looking up at it suspiciously. They haven't been particularly attracted to a running faucet. They eat mostly wet food so I don't think they drink a lot of water. The eight year old just had a urinary problem so I wanted to encourage more drinking.

Ceramic, plugs in and has a trickling sound. Kind of nice--maybe nice enough to keep around just for the sound of it.
