Gun Control & RKBA
In reply to the discussion: Woman accidentally shoots herself at Detroit's MotorCity casino [View all]I just dislike the ergonomics of any thumb safety that isn't on a 1911.
I'm sure I could train on it, but the smaller ones (like the SR9) are just too small to reliably defeat, the ones up on the slide require too much additional stuff to do (will explain later), and in the case of a gun tike a Beretta 92, what's the point of having the safety on when you have a 10 lb DA pull. (Remember - the safety is also the Decocker)
As for the V1 HK USP, the thumb safety doesn't decock the hammer, so you can carry cocked and locked, but if you press too hard when defeating the safety during the drawstroke, you'll decock the hammer.
I do have an LCP, but I just hate the gun. Small, lousy sights, and the trigger pull.... YUCK!!!!
When I need to be more concealed, it's a G26 with a "-" trigger.
When I don't it's a G19 (also with a "-" trigger)
I compete with a G17 ... (yep - you guessed it - "-" trigger)
If they pass a mag ban, probably going to transition to a 1911 .45ACP or 10mm.
