3. They get very feisty when you point that out

We've had a series of wannabe grabbers down here, claiming that the '94 ban was somehow violated when the manufacturers actually complied with the law, but still sold semi auto rifles with the required cosmetic changes.

For some odd reason they saw that as using a "loophole".

The trick is ... you're supposed to magically read their confused and ill informed minds (that proudly refuse to learn anything about the subject they want to regulate) and obey their version of the "spirit of the law" even if the law doesn't really say that.

OTOH ... it's nice that they never seem to learn and still cheer on all this fast and sloppy legislation, that always seems to come back and bite them in the ass. Style over substance seems to be the rule. "Look we have a new law restricting your guns, ha!"
