Wendy Davis pro-2nd Amendment? Gun group suspicious [View all]

The Democratic gubernatorial candidate has joined her top Republican rival in supporting a proposed open carry law that would allow people with concealed handgun licenses to wear a pistol on their hip, in full view, while in public.

Davis told The Associated Press that she supports expanding gun rights in Texas. She said that includes open carry – a position that puts her at odds with her own party, but one she hopes will keep her from alienating gun-rights advocates in a deeply conservative state that strongly supports the Second Amendment.

Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America (GOA), points out the Democrat's voting record isn't indicative of someone who supports Second Amendment rights.

"In the past, she has opposed people being able to buy and sell [firearms] privately – and she also voted against letting people who have a concealed-carry permit carry on campus," he tells OneNewsNow. "And now she wants us to believe that she's pro-Second Amendment, a pro-gun-toting mama? I don't think so."
