8. In Illinois it's the store owner's option

They can either allow open or concealed carry or forbid any firearms at all.

Pretty much every gun store I've ever been in has everyone open carrying.

I think the article mentions the permit because CCW is still a relatively "new" idea in Illinois and they tend to always bring up whether the shooter had a valid Illinois FOID card and a CCW permit.

But they never bring it up in street shootings though, for some odd reason. It's almost as if they want people to think there's no real difference between gang members shooting it out in a park and someone who jumped through all the legal hoops to get a permit.
