Is the strange fact that somehow it made the news in the first place and you deemed it important enough too post it here says much more about the source and op, than the man cleaning his gun.

Cleaning firearms involves the use of some pretty strong solvents (strong enough too dissolve copper and lead) cleaning firearms outside is prudent thing too do, if the smell of solvents bother you or a loved one

But the smell of an old favorite is not offensive
