I'm waiting to here how this is an important step forward for gun safety.

Well, let's see....it will inconvenience millions of law-abiding gun owners. Anyone wishing to use an AR-style rifle for unlawful purposes will simply use one purchased out of state of course, along with the normal capacity magazines that they can also purchase out of state.
