The CDC put out a gun research report in 2013. Among the findings was that there are at least 500 thousand self-defense uses of a firearm every year, compared with about 300 thousand criminal uses.

Tell me, how many of those 500,000 are you willing to see robbed and beaten and raped and murdered in order to get your "reasonable, commonsense " gun bans? How many gallons of blood are you willing to live with, so long as we get rid of the icky guns? What level of fascist police state will you tolerate in order to get rid of those guns? Cause let's face it, the only way a ban will ever be "effective" is if it's coupled with confiscation. Door to door searches, say good bye to the 4th amendment along with the 2nd.
