11. Do you foolishly think actual pro 2nd amendment laws offset a savage editorial?

I've finally learned that the dreaded and oft promised "backlash" actually consists of a handful of bobbleheads (smile, nod, sit, do nothing real) writing the same angry letters to the editor and an occasional editorial that can be easily cut and pasted on message boards like this. It makes them feel morally superior and that's really what matters.

Then ... they can claim victory for gun control and use it as proof that the vast silent majority of Americans support their POV. They are "silent" because they don't seem to ever actually vote, support gun control organizations or actually ever do anything about it.

The fact that actual pro 2nd amendment laws are being regularly passed and signed by the people elected to do so, in more and more states, doesn't really matter that much as a counterbalance to the backlash.

Once you understand what the backlash really is and how "effective" it can be, it gets much easier to place the proper value on it.
