In reply to the discussion: Open Carry Becomes Law in Oklahoma [View all]NewMoonTherian
(883 posts)2. Big win for us in Oklahoma.
It's not perfect, but it improves so much on the current state of affairs, I'm thrilled. There's also a provision that says legal open carry cannot be punished as breaching the peace, creating a public disturbance or anything similar.
Law enforcement, of course, is absolutely sobbing over it. Mass confusion. Who's the good guy, who's the bad guy? A state senator and former officer actually said police will arrive on a crime scene and there will be 40 people standing around with guns. They all seem to be implying that Oklahoma cops are dumber than cops in the rest of the country, which, to be fair, I have no reason to doubt.

Gun culture can have a big annual festival and show off their stuff to the like "minded."

Progressive, maybe not, but better the fool you see than the one you can't.

2A is progressive. The Constitution is radical and liberal and ahead of its time.

Oh sure, denying women vote, condoning slavery, endorsing killing Native Americans for their land

While I've always *suspected* that this member harbors prohibitionist intent, I must say

Perceptive. While I'd prefer guns to just fade away, I'm mostly against guns in public.

Well let's disarm only the government paid officials. I think that's a pretty good compromise.

One of those "chicken & egg" things -- if citizenry is planning to fight among themselves with guns,

I don't plan on doing anything but, taking care of me and mine and helping others when I can.

As far as I know, the Constitution never mentioned women voting until 1920.
