In reply to the discussion: Is it proper for a "scientist" to be seen with an advocacy group [View all]gejohnston
(17,502 posts)18. that is not a false claim
Now you're doing that thing you always do... make false statements. We've been over this ground many times before, and so far you have come up with exactly zero substantive criticism of Hemenway's research or anyone else's research for that matter.
Really? What false statement is that? Check Joyce's website or Wikipedia. His chair is funded by Joyce. That is not false. What other falsehood are you accusing me of? Or are you back to making patronizing rants like in DU2 and then denying you made them? We are not talking about Kleck. My point was that advocacy research is not science. You use the example of the health advocacy groups like American Cancer Society. Did they fund research? Did they advocate based on research not funded by them or any similar organization?

Reading that DU post, I noticed you and Hemenway have similar writing styles. Actually, that thread has a couple of excellent critiques of Hemenway. Instead of reinventing the wheel, I'll just put the whole link.

LOL. I guess this is what passes for backing your statements with proof in pro-gunner land...

And I assume you're equally opposed to scientists working with the American Cancer Society...

And it continues... No substance. Joyce! Something you made up! Kleck is your hero!

I noticed that you did not refute what he said, but chose to play the "right-winger" card

I don't see a problem with an interest group in a particular area honoring a researcher

That's certainly the risk an academic takes in this situation - but a free dinner
