129. Man charged in Saturday shooting

SOUTH BEND — The man arrested by police in a weekend shooting that severely injured a 29-year-old was out of jail, after posting bond, after being charged with aggravated battery in March.

Erick Clay, 34, has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery after a shooting Saturday afternoon on Brookfield Street that critically injured 29-year-old Tyler Lewis.

Lewis was found shot twice, lying in an alley, by two young children who ran to a neighbor’s house to call police.

According to the charges, Lewis was conscious after the shooting and was able to tell police that Clay had shot him ...
