15. Many gun owners dislike the NRA but support its views on gun control ...

I know a number of ex members who decided to drop their membership because of all the mail and telephone calls they received from the political wing of the NRA, the NRA-ILA. That in no way means they disagree with the basic idea that American citizens have a right to own firearms for hunting, target shooting and self defense. Many if not most of the NRA "talking points" are solid.

As a over 40 year member of the NRA, I can tell you that they can indeed be a pain in the ass. Apparently they finally realized that I refuse to donate money to the NRA-ILA as I have stopped receiving solicitations. I don't always agree with the NRA but basically I support RKBA and the Second Amendment. If I believed that there was indeed a serious threat to gun owner rights, I would donate to the NRA-ILA. At this time I have no such fear.
