Once the ladies learn the basics and start getting comfortable with the noise, recoil and the sound of the clang when the bullet hits steel, they find out that shooting is fun.

... why women would be more in need of getting comfortable with noise and all the rest than men who have never used/been around firearms?

Pretty patronizing, I fear. Kind of like the moronic pink gun thing you mention.
