25. The "Assault Weapon" definition

does not require that the weapon have a semi / full auto selector switch.

Please note, I referred to "Assault Weapons", not "Assault Rifles"

As you have accurately pointed out, the term "Assault Weapon" covers several specific designs of which an "Assault Rifle" is but one.

Concerning the M-16. In the semi-auto mode, it is extremely reliable accurate. I qualified expert with it out to 500 yards with peep sights - as was required of all Marines at the time. However, in the full auto mode and particularly when the rifleman is assaulting a defensive position, it chunks a bunch of lead, usually in one somewhat limited direction.
